Research from the National Education Association (NEA) shows that having kids read frequently (and a lot) is one of the crucial components of becoming a good reader. The U.S. Department of Education findings indicate the more students read for fun on their own time, the higher their reading scores.
LRC STUDENT GOAL FY 2018
The Kelvin Grove LRC student goal is to increase individual reading appreciation, joy and comprehension by experiencing a wide variety of literature and non-fiction texts supportive of District 91 curriculum and Illinois Learning Standards; to engage students using S.T.E.A.M. concepts, increase library/ research skills and strengthen digital citizenry through hands-on activities in LRC Centers and MakerSpace; and to have FUN while meeting this goal!
