It's not because I don't love school -- or the amazing students -- or the crisp fall air and all-things-AUTUMN. I think it boils down to the bidding farewell to summer -- and all that summers represent to me -- that makes me a bit sad. I LOVE SUMMER and all that it brings. I love the long days, the hot weather, sunshine and even rainy summer days. It's something about the promise of new days, that are dressed up as summertime -- and those relaxed moments that the kiss of summer brings. Songs. Music. Heat. Barbeques. Picnics. Road Trips. And that reading! That glorious summertime reading: books read under trees, next to rivers, on top of mountains, inside tents, around morning campfires while sipping fresh brewed coffee. Sitting in boats, on docks, baking and basking in the warmth of the summer sun -- all the while skimming the newly turned page of yet another adventure, another mystery, another story.
Ah, summer. I definitely adore you and I'm going to miss you. Until the next one.
Meanwhile. I will heat up the apple cider, drag out some warm sweatshirts, look for some great pumpkins -- and gear up for FALL.
We are beginning to FALL INTO GREAT BOOKS in the LRC. Come join us. #ReadEveryDay
